Make an annual donation

For many years, Custodian Patrons have played a special role in the growth of the State Library by making an annual donation.

Each year, the Foundation asks Custodians to support a specific project including the acquisition of new collection items, the preservation of rare artefacts, and the development of innovative public programs and exhibitions. Custodian donors have generously contributed more than $2.4 million to the Library since the program's inception.

2018-19 Appeal

Last year we asked our custodian donors to support the establishment of a special Children’s Library in the Macquarie Street building, which will offer direct access to the best works for children and young adults written and published in Australia, with a representative sample of classic works from beyond our shores.

The new Children’s Library, opening 12 October 2019,  will allow browsable access to modern editions of the works of all these people, and others. It will also provide a glimpse of the riches of our own collection, and the contribution of Australian writers and illustrators to this important literary genre.

Any Custodian donations received after 30 June 2019 will support our acquisitions program.
