A gift in your Will, no matter what size, will make a difference to the work of the Library.
We use bequests to acquire, conserve and share our collections, offer free exhibitions and services, and run educational programs and fellowships.

How to leave a bequest
All bequests to the Library are welcome and are managed through our philanthropy arm - the State Library of NSW Foundation. Your bequest can take a variety of forms including a residual gift, a percentage of your estate or a specific amount or assets such as shares, property or a book collection or work of art.
Please see the examples below of suggested wording for different types of bequests. We recommend you speak to a solicitor about your intentions regarding making a bequest.
Leave us the residue of your estate. This is called a ‘residual bequest’.
“I give and bequeath to the State Library of New South Wales Foundation (ABN 76 343 150 267), of Macquarie Street, Sydney, NSW, Australia, the residue of my estate to be used for its general purposes.”
Leave us a percentage of your estate.

What is the Library Circle?
The Library Circle honours the important role that benefactors play in the development of the Library during their lifetime.
The Circle comprises a group of supporters who have publicly pledged a gift in their will to the Library. They share a close relationship with the Library and benefit from exclusive events including an annual recognition event at the end of the year.
If you have notified us of your intention to leave a gift in your will we are delighted to invite you to become a member of the Library Circle.
