We are open on ANZAC Day from 1pm to 5pm. See our ANZAC Day opening hours for more details.
The State Library of NSW is here for everyone to use and enjoy.
With more than one million people expected to walk through our doors next year, we’re turning the Library inside out so you will be able to experience first-hand more of our collections than ever before. Every usable space will be dedicated to improving our range of services, programs, and facilities - for the benefit of us all.
Work is underway to realise a master plan which will give our readers, researchers, students, and visitors unprecedented public access to the historic Mitchell building and to the extraordinary riches within.
This is the Library’s first major building project in the Mitchell in over 50 years, made possible through a strong collaboration between benefactors, the late Michael Crouch AC and John B Fairfax AO, and the NSW Government.
Please stay in touch with us and follow the progress of this transformation.
