Explore Australian history including Indigenous Australians, the First Fleet, early settlement and the expansion of the colony. Learn about the lives of convicts through the study of original items from the State Library collection.

In this 90 minute program students will:

  • analyse primary source material
  • participate in a costumed guided role play
  • gain an understanding of convict life during  first settlement
  • tour the State Library
  • view original collection items relating to Australian history.

Bus Subsidy

The State Library of NSW offers to provide K-12 school students from DET schools in Western and South Western Sydney, access to FREE bus travel to visit the State Library of NSW to participate in our onsite learning programs.
